All praises be to Allah, so today I would like to share my experiences (contributions and achievements) during my days in IIUM, specifically in IIC. If you never heard of IIC, IIC stands for International Islamic College which is a college under IIUM. Yes, I had my Diploma in IIC. The lecturers were great and kind, my friends were all good and supportive, the lectures were so fun and awesome! Oh I really had great times in IIC. How I miss those moments with those beautiful souls.
So, what have I done within the 2 years and 8 months? I had not done so much, but I believe there were my hands and mind contributing for the ummah, insyaaAllah. During those years, I was actively participating and contributing through Persatuan Belia Harmoni IIC until I had been chosen to be both Academic Committee and a Vice President for one year each.
On my forth semester in IIC, I had organised an event which is called 'Goodbye Stress' where I made 150 bookmarks with a quote on it and distributed to random students two weeks before the examination week. A week before the examination week, I had organised a forum with the title of 'Study Booster Forum' at the IIC Great Hall on 17th October 2017. I invited 4 great persons to be the panelists and a moderator for the forum (Refer attached poster) to share tips on how to balance academic and extracurricular activities, how to study effectively, and also to motivate students to study diligently. Alhamdulillah everything went well with almost 100 participants. I remember how nervous and overwhelmed I was during the day before and the day itself! But Alhamdulillahirabbil alamin, Allah made it awesome and made my hardworks paid off.
The next semester in the same year, I had been in another tenure which I held a position of Vice President. It was so heavy to carry as it sounds. There were a lot of things I had gone through during that tenure and it taught me many things. So, one of the events that I had contributed to was a 'Seminar Rumah Ngaji'. This event was also handled under me like the 'Study Booster Forum' where I supervised almost every committee. I was appointed to be the director of the program. The event was to make the students of IIC have the
interest and awareness to appreciate Al-Quran by reading, understand and
practice the content of Al-Quran. There was also a great speaker who delivered the contents (refer attached poster). Alhamdulillah again, everything went well and I was so happy as it was a full house! We even needed to sit on the floor, alhamdulillah.
As I needed to follow up with the participants, I grouped the participants by their level of Quranic recitation and they were followed up by the appointed leaders to lead the Quranic circle. It is like an usrah, but we focused more on the recitation added with some sharings. I was one of the leaders who needed to make the 'usrah' (with a partner) once a week for 5 persons. Alhamdulillah the participants were looking forward to persist with the group, but eventually as our different schedules made it hard for us to meet every week, the group gradually disappeared. I felt so bad because I could not make it further. But Allah knows best right? At least I had given my best for them. May Allah protect them wherever they are. Aah it was so sad.
There are a few more programs that I committed in preparing and succeeding them alhamdulillah. But these two events really had a place in my memory as they had reached many people alhamdulillah. What did I do was, I renewed my intention of organizing the event only for the sake of Him and I performed 2 rakaah of hajat prayer and asked Allah to smoothen the event, to make it beneficial, and reach more people. Allah is Great and He has power over all things. I believe Allah had granted my du'as. Subhanallah, all praises be to Him.
Persatuan Belia Harmoni Malaysia somewhat has taken a place in my heart. Therefore when I further my study in IIUM, I continued my membership in PBHIIUM which I am currently under the Volunteerism and Humanitarian Affairs Bureau. I have joined the 'Guide Me Project' event twice, where we went to one of the rural areas in Gombak, mentoring the children in their academic which reflects the objective, that is to guide & assist the Gombak community in education through mentor-mentee mechanisms.
May Allah bless and guide us all the way.
